We ask all parents in the center to home grade their students work.
- If parents grade every day, they can help ensure that Kumon is
completed every day. The #1 reason for students not progressing well in Kumon is when students don’t complete their work daily.
- If students correct their work right away, they will be less likely to
make the same mistake again and again. They also won’t have to do a big pile of corrections when they come to class. This means that they can move ahead to new work in class, instead of correcting old work.
- By home grading, you can clearly see and understand your child’s
progress. You will be able to see right away why an assignment was repeated, and how much it improves with practice.
- By homegrading, you are showing your children that you think
Kumon is important, that you value their effort, and that you are willing to take the time to be involved. Homegrading should take less than 5 minutes, and it’s time well-spent.
Homegrading is a practice used in Kumon Centers throughout North America because it works to keep students progressing successfully.
If there is a specific reason that you cannot home grade, please speak to Patty Munson about it so that find a solution that will work well for everybody.
